Adam C. Cliffe
Adam C. Cliffe (June 25, 1869 – June 12, 1928) was a United States federal judge.
Cliffe was born in Sycamore, Illinois, and received an LL.B. from Northwestern University, and read law to enter the Bar in 1897. He was in private practice of law in Sycamore, Illinois from 1897 to 1920, and was also a member of the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois State Senate. From January 3, 1917, he was President of the Illinois Senate. From 1920 to 1923 he was a Circuit judge on the 16th Judicial Circuit of Illinois.
Cliffe was nominated by President Warren G. Harding on December 20, 1922, to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois created by 42 Stat. 837. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on December 22, 1922, and received his commission the same day. He served until his death.
